The Roosli is fab... Dad reckons I look like I'm going roping Hopefully it pass the saddle fit lady tomorrow. 4 fingers at withers, very little bridging, horse is happy to trot in it, and it puts me in the straightest position I've been in to date. Pic below, excuse the horse who is asleep and leaning!

DAY 103: Finally the sun came back out!! Oz has started his new trick.. rising up a front leg and then smashing it down on the ground behind him. Lord knows why. he was always a foot stamper but he seems to be getting grumpier with old age. The saddle fitter did up his girth 2 days ago very quick (too quick) and I nearly got a nip. So I think thats why yesterday when the girth touched his off leg he went into immediately foot stamping. Didn't do it today though Today was a lovely ride... sunshine, so wind so Oz wasn't hopping about! Got some magic turns... literally I just push one leg into his side and he wraps his body around it and turns that way..... also HQ some dropping my hip. Then did leg yields - HQ - backup - 180 .. FAB not a brace in sight just like a river flowing... aahhh When hes great hes' great!

DAY 104: What a day!
SUN SHINING! OUT IN THE BIG FIELD! OZZIE STARTED WITH EMOTION BUT WITH LEG YIELDS AND TURNS HE CALMED DOWN!
We did lots of teardrops al la Buck (I must read my note again). HQ yield is when I drop one hip. I don't think I even need to use my leg. Leg yields are magic when I restrict one front leg a little and put weight in inside of bend.
MORE IMPORTANTLY - We did counter bends in walk!!
WOOHOOOOOOOO!!!
Halt - slight bend in neck to I can see eye, slight bend in ribs when I put my weight there, then drop outside hip to get the HQ moving over !!
whoooohooo Did a few steps a few times!!!

DAY 105: Out riding at 8.30am in lovely autumn sunshine.
Got up very early this morning & channelled Mark Rashid help to get Ozs mind with me & relaxed in the first 5 minutes in the field. Then rode on hallowed 'Steve' ground with Ozzie feet in my hands.... I was very pretty particular about stopping Oz leaning even a step. The result was fancy moves abounded with lovely soft backups, yields, turns, rollbacks, leg yields & leg yield from walk to trot (THIS IS BIG!!!) staying really soft in both gaits. WOOWHOO!
Now Oz & Doug are out in the big field for grazing & they cannot believe their luck. Also Oz gets 4 days off now cos I'm off to see Jeff in Germany.

DAY 106: I had a mellow horse but Dads horse was trotting around loose in the field, spooking & then galloping off. So Oz wasn't quiet as mellow as when I caught him.... Decided to ride in the paddock. Got up all great. Moved for about 10 secs then Oz went into squealing / jumping about mood. Walking wasn't much of an option It was stand still quietly or jump about. - During all the tacking up, Oz was cool as custard, no girthing history from the 1 time a visitor pinched him, and no foot stamping! VERY happy. - So happy to be back in the saddle! - Laughed out loud when Oz squealed and then jumped afterwards... I like a bit of warning - Got 1 HQ yield without an unscheduled jump, so got off (wisely!) and gave Oz an apple Happy Christmas! Elaine
