I spectated on the Sunday. Always an absolute pleasure to visit June's yard and see friends old & new. Got pretty wet & very cold but learned so much as usual particularly from Ronnie's longlining lesson (what a character he is!). Laura's two horses are absolutely lovely and she rides them beautifully. Wasn't able to take Impy this time so will DEFINATELY take him to the next one (please could you put my name down June if you're starting a list).

Yup, list started. Will add you to it.
Becky is back for August Bank Holiday. May try and get her back for a shorter clinic before then.

Looks like everyone had a good time - sunburn and showers - only in the UK!

I'm noticing lots of Rockin S bits in the pictures - is there a particular reason they've been chosen? Just wondering as still pondering bits for Dolly but don't think these are dressage legal?

A few of us have done clinics with Mark Rashid, Kathleen Lindley and Tom Widdicombe and have found the Rockin S bits to be the ones the horses prefer. They sit very still in the mouth so the rein aids are very clear to the horse. I'm so irritated that they aren't dressage legal I'm organising an "alternative" dressage day where people can wear whatever bits they like or compete bitless if they prefer! 3rd July for anyone interested.

The sitting still part of these bits really does appeal but I'd only be bitting her for showing and dressage...everything else she does perfectly well bitless... Where will that be, June? If close enough to Bristol I'd love to bring Dolly along in her hackamore for a play

We're a bit too far away from you I think. We're on the Herts/Beds border.
It seems crazy to me that these bits aren't dressage legal. If the horses prefer them then surely that should be what counts. I've tried a variety of bits on the polo ponies including Mylers, KK Ultras etc and out of the 30 here there is one old girl who prefers a plain snaffle and one who likes the Rockin S ported version. All the rest prefer the Rockin S French link.

Ah that's a shame, will just have to keep looking for somewhere round here where we can play HC

I'd echo June's coments re the Rocking S - since I put Jake in one last summer, we've just moved forward loads. And I didn't think I had a problem with his previous bit (a thin loose ring snaffle) but he seems to really like the french link Rocking S.

fab photos! It looks like everyone had a great time. 'Splash' is incredibly marked isn't he? What a beautiful horse.

I though Splash was a Knabstrupper rather than an appaloosa, but may be wrong. Will ask! Ronnie looks absolutely fab too, and Lacy jumping - wow. Well done Lucy.

I was totally a-gasp at Splash and had quite a chat with his(?) mum coz my first horse's dad was an appie and I'm a huge fan... Splash is half app but I can't remember what the other half is. He is a total eyecatcher huh? It was a lovely lovely clinic; Becky was great!... thank you very much June for looking after us all so well. It was ace to see the polo ponies in action and watch so many happy horses offering lots of really nice work. Fabulous! (Pog's been so funny since... "Would you like this? How about this???" ... he had a ball!)
Happy happy happy!!
