Lovely pics I hadn't thought about Steph still being at school - bet the day she was at the clinic was far more fun for her

I wonder if her mum had to pay a fine for an unauthorised absence? Tom's a character isn't he? They were doing the stepping on a plate exercise and for ages he neatly avoided the plates, whatever sneaky angle Jackie set him up at. Then, he stamped on a plate with a hind leg, stopped and waved that leg around in the air. Jackie said "Oh, his boot needs sorting", took his boot off, shook it out, put it back on... and Tom went happily back to work. He's quite something. Cute pony was just really, really cute. Determined at first not to soften his neck in any direction, but after a bit of gentle waiting he relaxed, and then he just did everything that was asked of him. Maggie's mare was amazing, and so was Maggie. Such careful determination, and it really paid off. I'm searching for photos of the lovely trot they had at the end, but unfortunately a lot of my photos have been spoilt, I think my camera had trouble focusing with the dust and light conditions.

Fantastic photos - and so nice to also have a little history about each horse and owner too - makes the pictures more meaningful. I love the way Steve is just so calm when Tom has a moment and as for the little pony - way beyond cute, how lovely that her mum felt it was important for Steph (and her ponies) to come along and work with Steve.

Tom's "moments" seem to be about the need for speed. He's as good as he'll get physically, and mentally he's in a completely different place to even 2 years ago. He was a pacer, and Jackie got him off the track. So being asked for any other fast gait was confusing for him for a long time. That's why there are plenty of photos of him doing exciting stuff. He doesn't seem to get scared, it seems to be more that he has to rev himself up a lot to go up that gear. Once there, he seems pretty happy, and even confident enough to flick a heel at Steve.

Great pics! Think that pony wins the Cutest Silversandie Ever prize? Even Steve looks slightly taken by his cuteness in one of those pics! ;D

Oh yes, Steve kept saying things like "You're a cute lil' guy aren't you?".
