First GW session in a while but Jake is a pro & just does what I ask. Do love my horse - upward & downward transitions from a thought. Didn't work for long, about 10 minutes then back to the yard for breakfast & scratches.
This evening I went up to the yard in a hail storm. I hadn't put Jake's rug on earlier as it was sunny & warm. He was stood sheltering by a hawthorn tree, had obviously been there for a while because although his back was wet his legs & feet were dry! He'd found the perfect spot - amazing. He came in to the yard, ate his tea & went back out into the rain. He has access to his stable 24/7 but prefers to be out even in the most awful weather. Apart from the lack of equine company he seems really content living out.

Well we seem to be settled into a routine - I'm beginning to think that me & Jake are just like an old married couple!
I go up to the yard in the morning, call to him in the field. If lying down he gets up, has a few stretches & then wanders in to say hello. I groom him & check him over then he has breakfast. Today for a change we went out for a walk - he was so excited when he saw his boots, he just kept whickering at me! Due to my ridiculously busy work rota & mum being away I haven't been able to do much work with him recently. He seemed to really enjoy our walk out today so I really need to do this more often - even when I'm shattered after a night shift - it'll be good for both of us!
In the evenings it's the same - Jake sees me & wanders in! Amazingly he is maintaining his weight - I had worried that he would just eat until he exploded but Jake appears to be self regulating his intake. Wish I'd turned him out 24/7 years ago!
