Lol walk straight, do 180 home quarter yield, backup a few steps, do 180 forequarter yield, walk on original direction. Aim for it to be one flowing manoeuvre. Singing helps!

DAY 43: SADDLE: Tried a very cheap second hand dressage saddle and it seems to work fine! Bought it. Bargain lol/ RIDING: - No leaning in my hands - its gone!! wooohooo - Walk, sightly more weight on one side = few steps of leg yield immediately, walk, leg yield other direction. This is working really well - FQ yield no forwards mvt = yes - Halt and do HQ yield - this is the tricky one. Oz wants to move his shoulders, do FQ yields, do backups, go sideways... he;s trying very hard to finish my sentances & throwing all his moves at me I just smile, keep asking for HQ to move over and then stop when I get it. ITs good to do only this exercise and then walk stuff (but not yields) to keep things simple for him. AWESOME RIDE IN MY NEW DRESSAGE SADDLE!

DAY 44: GREAT! - Dressage saddle & finally using my Martin Black headstall I got 2 years ago in Vegas! Sat up on Oz. Straight away he was moving me all his yields that he did with Steve (unasked!)!! So straightaway into the first offical task - no leaning. Oz was leaning a lot today. After about 20 mins of work the lean was gone!! This is seriously good that I can get rid of this! The plan for the rest was to work on halt - HQ yield. This is the one Oz finds hardest as it requires the least movement! worked just on one side, then went off a little walks in between. Getting better! Getting less front end moves now. During 2 of the 'walks' we jumped up a little bank from walk, then back into walk again. What blew my mind was that the whole way though - including from step 1 after the jump, there was no leaning and Oz was really listening back to me. That's MAJOR after a jump with Oz! Very happy. Told him he was wonderful, & he got a carrot afterwards.

DAY 45: WONDERFUL! Got up. No matter what side I walk Oz up to the block (off or near) he parks right beside it. Oz stood still & didn't start into all his moves unasked 1 - Walk and no leaning - 90% leaning gone, and fixed the last 10% 2 - Halt & hind Q yield. Did this PERFECTLY 6 times on the off side! Didn't try the near side, that's for another day 3 - Did little fun stuff on mini bank in between & more walks about 4 - the moves... walk, HQ and FQ yield... walk, leg yield, HQ yield, backup, FQ yield.. All FAB!! 5 - the big one... walk, leg yield, change the bend continue the same leg yield - WOW def getting better now Oz understand exercise #2 above. Throughout - Oz very happy & relaxed, head very low on rests in between manovres. Happy horse really trying very hard & thinking back to me the whole time. Saddle is wonderful as well feels very comfortable.

DAY 45: Eaten by horseflies
The poor horse. He was in great form but also v annoyed at the flies. Footstamping, head shaking, general grave annoyance, hind leg kicking, head turning, leaning on reins, etc. Made it tricky to focus on work! Kept at it for about 20 mins, got a nice soft forwards & backwards & then quit there. Poor horse. Saddle was great though! V fond of it now. Back to proper work (with fly spray!) tomorrow.

DAY 46: Fly spray in action Fly spray on. Much happier horse. Got on, trotted off no leaning Very hot, slightly lazy horse. Lovely trotting all around, worked on some halt to HQ yields, great on off side, now starting to practise them on the near side. Did a few leg yields, HA, FQ, backups. Horse happy but lacking energy! I was pretty hot too, so got a lovely halt - HQ on near side, and called it a day. Might do more this evening when its cooler. Trotting about on a horse who is listening 100%, with me and no leaning is lovely though
