Winter is coming... so what are your tips for survival this year? I've purchased 20 25l water containers for £4 each and intend to fill them in water and insulate them with hay and old rugs in preparation for the water supply freezing up.

My survival tips for this year already, has been coconut oil on hooves, mane/tail and also my skin to keep the elements from cracking my aging hands and Rusty's hooves from splitting. It also has worked on his legs for keeping his skin scab free. It's amazing stuff all round and a little goes a loooong way. Miracle stuff

Reely reely thick padded riding over trousers. For the first time....ever...I think, I'm not getting frozen legs when riding! 😊

Yes,nic,me too! I think they are Dublin make. I look like the Michelin man but sooooo warm
I have also discovered that if you half fill a dustbin with dead hay and then nestle a water bucket in the top, it takes a lot longer to freeze.

Warm is soooo good. 😊 Cor that's a good tip about the water. Wish I'd known that one when I had Staro! 😂

I quite fancy one of those coats, with the battery pack in. Is it me, or does it seem to have taken ages for the really cold weather to arrive?
However, I got out to the car this morning and the locks were frozen lol. I almost never got to work - oops lol

I would be happy if the really cold weather (and the rain too) never arrived! I have seriously frozen hands today after poo picking lumps of frozen poop off concrete slabs!
I usually use winter gardening gloves (Briers, about £6 a pair) but discovered that I had left them outside yesterday and they were frozen hard onto the fence post I'd laid them on Rubber gloves useless.......
