Hi Guys,
I'm officially being made redundant on the 01st of February - I'm ok about it. The question is this, at 41 am I too old to retrain to do something I really love as opposed to just doing a job to pay the bills until I retire?
I hate working in an office, even though I'm good at it. And I had several attempts to try to do it when I was married- however - thanks to lack of spousal support I never quite managed to afford it.
I would really really like to train in some kind of equine therapy such as Masterson Method, Equine Myofacial Release or something similar. The thing is, I have the dedication and I have more free time these days.
Any thoughts?

You can do anything. Why would you be "too old"?? LOL
I am currently (aged 68) applying for a licence from the council so I can board a couple of dogs and also trying to find the time to finish off an online course in teaching english as a Foreign Language.
You only get one life, so if finances and other circumstances allow, why not do exactly as you please?
The only small thing abou the ideas you mention are that it might be difficult to make a decent living at them?

Sounds like a plan although Ii agree with Snigsby, not going to be able to make much of a living for quite a while, not very original but see if you can get a part time office job while you are retraining, good luck 🤞🍀

i changed jobs at 43 to a lower paid part time job ( clerk to parish council) which I loved and it turned out to be full time flexi hours, so I could ride, with good money and training. I retired at 62 and moved up to Lincolnshire and low and behold a part time job as clerk in my village came available (32 hrs a month) with good pay. I never looked back and from my change of career and recommend if your hearts in it go for it. It will be successful. Good luck

Thank you guys <3 I know the income possibilities aren't great to start with- so yes, I would have to get a job to fund it. I just want to do something that I love too.
I find your responses really encouraging and I think I will make it happen, I know it won't be easy but I think it'll be worth it Xx

I agree with all of them, you're not past it yet! Just make sure you can afford to live, being short of money is a pressure you won't need when you're re-training.

I agree! You're definitely not past it! If you can find sonething part-time to do to keep an income (unless you don't need to!) while you re-train, then go for it. 😃
