Just for 3 days this time, house not so full and I don't have so much other work to worry about. Which is good.
I've been here since 3.30. My friend Jan, who does the cooking and some cleaning, waited here for 12 o'clock arrivals... who turned up at 3.15. This was two couples, who were later joined by another couple. They mention they are going to a wedding, so won't be leaving their rooms until about 12.30 tomorrow morning. So I'd best cancel the cleaner then, as she works mornings, she tends not to start at lunchtime. They are also planning to return here after the ceremony to change. So I'm not sure they'll get their rooms serviced, or maybe I'll do them after they go out again for the reception? One man started asking me if I could help them get a taxi when they come back after the service. I gave them a card for a cab company and explained that, funnily enough, I won't be here. (Remember "We're an effing B+B not a hotel").
Then the lady who was travelling with her dog got lost. Using sat nav. She came off the M20 at the right junction, and by the time she rang me she must have been at least 15 miles away. I could hear her sat nav in the background saying "turn around, turn around...". When she booked she said her dog was very clean and well behaved. They've been here 10 minutes and the whole hallway and lobby by her room stink of damp dog. Oh dear. Out in the garden, I warned her to be careful on the decking as it can be slippery, she went out, stood talking to me, her dog pulled on the lead so hard that she slipped right over on her bum.
Oh, and I've also had to change a lightbulb standing on a customer's bed. And had a mysteriously ringing phone extension that wouldn't stop until I took the batteries out.
An auspicous start don't you think? ;D
