Post Clinic ride.
Gave G a well earned day of on Saturday, but did not want to leave it too long before i attempted to leave the yard.
So on Sunday morning i put his bridle on, currently with a Pelham bit, as that is all i could find that would fit from my friends collection, did i mention he has a fat tongue so i think the snaffle was pinching, several people have offer bits for me to try just not gotten around to accessing them as yet.
Anyway had rope halter underneath so effectively had 2 reins, so got on and offered him the good deal of using the rope halter, and he was a little git!! refused to go anywhere near the gate, so he found him self in a world of pain as i needed to pick up on the bit! took me about 5 mins of stropping and rearing, i manage to get the rope halter rein short enough to be effective and we got out of the yard and down the road without needing any one behind him ..... err helping us forward.
The plan is to move into a California Hackamore at some point, but i think for hacking out i will still use a bit, once i have found one he is comfortable with.
Will be next weekend before i will have time for another round, so fingers crossed.

This week I got a myler slightly ported bit from the Horsebitbank it was a little snug so I am waiting for a replacement, so for today’s attempt to get out of the yard, I put G back in loose ring snaffle, i was not feeling to bright so half expected not to get anywhere, but apart from G being magnetically drawn to the apple trees 😡 it did not take me all that long to get my act together and make it out of the gate! Did not go far, made him walk past the gate instead of going straight back in.
Also I think my young dog is finally getting the message ( he is a too little enthusiastic when meeting people) as when my friend came up the garden I was able to stop him rushing over to her to say hello then running off with her washing! 🐾
So so all in all a good day!
